Esports Academics Partners with NCFE

Esports Academics Partner with Tækniskólinn

 

Esports Academics and Tækniskólinn are ecstatic to announce they have agreed a partnership to provide studetnts with valuable experiences and opportunities to improve their analytical thinking, critical thinking, strategy development and a much better foundational knowledge of the esports industry as a whole!


Both parties are extremely excited about the future of esports within the country, offering cutting edge education within the country and helping create a pipeline for students in Iceland to pursue careers within Iceland and further afield. 


Vigfús Karl Steinsson, (Esports Coach) at Tækniskólinn said:

We look forward to this partnership being able to help cement great fundamentals for students aspiring to enter into the world of esports and their further career pathways. We see this as the start of a long journey to building a fantastic pipeline to allow the esports ecosystem to thrive within Iceland.


Esports has seen a meteoric rise all around the world with career opportunities in various fields within esports having growth in terms of opportunities. Furthermore, in the last 4 years alone esports has seen a growth of around 100m in terms of global audience rising from 435 million in 2020 to 540 million worldwide now with this expected to surpass 640 million in 2025.


George Cork, Co-Founder at Esports Academics, said: “ This partnership is going to provide fantastic opportunities for the students at Tækniskólinn and the Iceland community overall. We are really looking forward to implementing this pilot and developing things further within Iceland to help develop the pipeline for students into the esports industry. We see this as only the start of an exciting journey ahead and can not wait to get started” 


“This will help establish Iceland as an innovative leader when it comes to esports education and showcase that they are looking to always push the boundaries to make sure their students have the best experience and opportunities possible when studying.”


As part of the pilot Tækniskólinn will deliver the Level 2 Award in Esports Coaching and Player Care having a very core focus on practical based learning for the students and allowing them to gain a real understanding for what a coach is, the pivotal role in which they play and what elements go into being a successful coach from gameplay analysis to game plan and strategic development.
